Raised on a musical diet of Saturday morning R&B radio, soul, and classic rock, my passion for music started at a young age. After tinkering around with some instruments (drums and sax), mastering the art of the mix, and spending too much of my allowance on iTunes, I found that I loved sharing music as much as listening to it. I soon found myself studying at Syracuse University, where I hosted a weekly college radio show at the same time as this whole "EDM" thing was bubbling up; then in Barcelona, a global mecca of nightlife and electronic music culture; and finally, New York City, where I became an editor at VICE's THUMP, a destination for all that is dance music.
While building my career as a music journalist, I began my DJ journey as Wig-Wam and co-founded Goonroom with my childhood pal Harrison: a roaming club night devoted to introducing international DJs to NYC. Since 2013, we've programmed nights at major venues like Output, Rose Gold, and Black Flamingo, and booked artists like Seb Widblood, Damiano von Erckert, Cinthie, Groovedge Records, Recloose, Krystal Klear, DJ Seinfeld, Sweely, Scott Z. For many, it's their first time playing in our fair city. I love to play everything from soul 45s to jackin' Chicago house, acid, Detroit techno, reggae and lovers rock, funk, balearic, and just about anything else that will make people feel something and smile. As I always say, "life moves to the beat."
